The Big Focus:
Shifting the status quo of current promotion ceremonies in order to provide students an authentic, meaningful, and community created celebration. Questions to Discuss:
Q: How do we come about the conversation of “change” with parents?
A: Open it up to parents in the PTSA. Create an opporunity for an open forum.
Q: How do we come about the conversation of “change” and “proposals” with students?
A: Open it up to student council. Grades 6-8. Focus perhaps more on 7/8. Establish a focus group with students with student council. Brainstorming Big Ideas:
Turning promotion into recognizing the whole group instead of the individual recognition.n Make sure students and community are part of the conversation. Invite a board member to attend.
Needs:
Cosmano and Reuter release time for leadership activity. Professional day for them. It would be a good tie in for student council. Some time in February. Training makes more since if use practical means. Boundries:
Time, no earlier than 5PM.
Budget? Dates Discussed Moving Forward:
February 11th: Staff Development
February 19th: Students (possible)
February 22th: Staff Development
February 25th: Staff meeting
February 25th (Parents & Teachers)
March 31st (Parent Meeting – Volunteers)
